Albuquerque International Sunport handled 6,117,646 passengers in 2002. The total has more than doubled over the past 10 years.

ABQ's freight center moved 150,815,771 pounds of cargo in 2002.

There were 254,874 takeoffs and landings, or an average of 698 per day, in 2002 at ABQ: 81,296 by major airlines; 49,179 by commuter airlines; 47,899 by military aircraft; and 76,500 by general aviation aircraft.

ABQ is served by eight major commercial carriers: American, America West, Continental, Delta, Frontier, Northwest, Southwest and United. It also receives regular service from commuter airlines: Mesa, Rio Grande Air and Skywest. Regional airline service is provided by Great Plains. Freight service is provided by Airborne Express, Aero Charter, DHL, Empire, Federal Express, Integrated Airline Service, Kalitta, Southwest Aero Service and UPS.

Southwest Airlines is ABQ's largest carrier; it handled 54% of ABQ's 2002 passengers.

ABQ offers nonstop service to 28 cities, including Amarillo, Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Chicago, Cincinnati, Colorado Springs, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Denver, Durango, El Paso, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Oakland, Oklahoma City, Minneapolis, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa and Tucson. Nonstop in-state service is offered to 9 cities including Alamogordo, Carlsbad, Clovis, Farmington, Gallup, Las Cruces, Roswell, Ruidoso and Silver City.

ABQ's terminal, which was expanded to its present size in the late 1980s and again in 1996, encompasses 574,000 sq. ft. of space and has 23 gates in two concourses.

There is parking for approximately 3,700 vehicles in ABQ's four-level parking structure and adjacent surface lot.

Albuquerque International Sunport is located approximately four (4) miles southeast of the central business district.

By Car:

From the north: Interstate 25 south to the Sunport Blvd. exit (#221). East on Sunport to the front of the terminal. Signage will direct motorists to the arrival and departure level roadways and to short and long term, on-airport parking.

From the south: Interstate 25 south to the Gibson Blvd. exit (#222A). East on Gibson to Yale Blvd. Turn south on Yale Blvd. Signage will direct motorists to the arrival and departure level roadways and to short and long term, on-airport parking.

By Bus: Bus Route #50, Airport-Downtown, serves ABQ. Buses arrive and depart from the 1 st level curbside, far west end of the terminal building approximately every 32 minutes beginning at 7:00am. Last departure from the airport leaves at 5:40pm. and the last arrival to the airport is 6:09pm.
