Anchorage Airport Parking (ANC)

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is the major air gateway to Alaska. It also has the distinction of being the key international cargo crossroads for transpacific freighter activity. With 24-hour operations, growth continues in international and domestic passenger service as well as international cargo.

Getting to the Airport

Please take the time to check local newspapers, public service announcements, and web sites to determine if new procedures have been instituted.

Due to heightened security, Point Woronzof Drive is restricted to official business traffic (AWWU, Signature Flight Support, and Clitheroe Center) from 7PM to 7AM . A guard will be posted just west of the Boeing Drive intersection to check vehicles. The Airport is also exploring other road closure options to improve access control and security.

At the Airport

Parking and curbside access are subject to greater controls. Vehicles using public parking may be inspected prior to parking . It is recommended that the numbers and types of packages and equipment in your vehicle be reduced to that necessary for travel or road safety measures.

Curbside parking is restricted to active loading and unloading only. Parked vehicles at curbside that are not actively loading and unloading will be directed to move; vehicles left unattended will be ticketed and towed.

Curbside baggage check-in is no longer available. It is strongly recommended that if you have a lot of luggage, that you make arrangements to have someone else drop you off at curbside. Some carriers such as Alaska Airlines do offer wheelchair assistance. Please check with your AIRLINE to determine if they are currently offering this service.

Checking In

You will be required to have government issued ID when you check-in for your flight. You may be asked to produce this ID, again, at other stages of the check-in process. Please be prepared to show your ID as well as boarding cards at each stage of the boarding process.

Automated check-in kiosks may be available. Give yourself enough time to check-in, in person, at the ticket counter. Some carriers such as Alaska Airlines, are currently using check-in kiosks.

If you are utilizing an E-ticket or ticket-less travel, please confirm with your airline what you will need at check-in. You may need to have a specific written confirmation document such as a letter from the air carrier acknowledging your reservation.

At Security Screening

Both carry-on and checked baggage may be subject to limitations at any time. When you plan your travel, try to minimize the number of pieces and size of luggage you will be carrying. Check with your AIRLINE prior to departure to determine your best course of action.

Only ticketed passengers will be allowed beyond the screening checkpoint. If you have a medical, parental or other specific, verifiable need to accompany a ticketed passenger, please check with your AIRLINE at the ticket counter for authorization to accompany a ticketed passenger past the screening point.

For carry-on baggage, please limit the number and type of electronic equipment you carry with you. This includes cellular phones, paging devices, laptop computers, personal listening devices (CD players), electronic toys and games, etc. The necessity of screening these devices will create delays in your check-in process. Whenever possible you should place these items in your checked baggage.

Please remove ALL knives, scissors, and blades of any type or size from your carry-on baggage. These items should be packed in your checked baggage. They will not be allowed in the sterile area of the airport or on board aircraft.

If you have a medical condition that requires you to carry a needle and/or syringe on your person or in your carry on baggage you must also have the medication that requires such injection on your person. The medication must be packaged with a pharmaceutical label or professionally printed label identifying the medication.

Please avoid carrying bottles of liquid through the screening checkpoint. The necessity of screening of these items will increase your check-in processing time. Please plan to purchase any food items you may wish to carry on board the aircraft once you have completed the screening process. Food, gifts and other services are generally available in the concourses beyond screening. If you have special dietary needs, please contact your airline to confirm the services provided on your flight.

At All Times

Control all carry-on bags. Never leave anything unattended as it could be subjected to tampering.

Never carry anything onboard the aircraft for another person, especially for someone you do not know.

Report any unattended packages or baggage anywhere in the airport or on the airplane to airport security personnel or airline personnel.
