Located about 10 miles south of Atlanta, Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport boasts two terminals connected to six concourses by an efficient underground train, which also travels between terminals. The airport ranked as the busiest in the world in 1999 and continues to provide both international and domestic flights.
The North Terminal features ticketing and check-in areas for various international and domestic flights, while the South Terminal only serves those travelling with South African Airways, Air France, Delta Airlines, Aeromexico and Sabena.
Travellers who want to pick up last-minute goods while waiting to board their flight can find plenty of shop throughout both terminals. There's also an underground transit mall. Restaurants, cafés and pubs are scattered throughout to serve passengers.
Full bank services and exchange facilities are on offer in the North Terminal, while ATMs are located throughout both the North and South terminals. Other facilities include an inter-faith chapel, luggage storage service and extensive lockers.
Conference facilities are provided at the Executive Conference Centre which is located at Airport Atrium Suite and features photocopying, fax, teleconferencing and computer facilities. Multilingual staff are on hand to assist passengers throughout the airport and an information desk is located in the central Atrium.
Transportation at Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport
The most convinient way to get to the airport is via the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), which provides a reliable service between the airport and the metro-Atlanta area. Buses are another option, servicing routes between Fulton, DeKalb and Cobb counties and the airport. Shuttle buses are provided by all major hotels located nearby. Limousines and metered taxis are ready and waiting outside the terminals, with set rates into the city centre. More information on transportation is provided at both the North and South terminals.
Motorists coming from northern, western and eastern directions should take I-85 south and exit at junction 18A. The airport is well-signposted from the exit. Those arriving from the south should take I-285 west and exit at junction 3 for the airport.
Parking at Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport
Parking services at the airport are good, with many options to choose from. There is an hourly parking lot in front of terminal buidlings, while long-term parking spaces are located a bit farther away, with shuttle bus services provided between the lots and the terminals. Daily parking is suitable for overnight parking and located directly across from each terminal, while economy parking is decicated for long-term parkers and is the cheapest option for long stays.
The airport also provides the Gold Reserve Lot for those with busy schedules. This parking lot is just a short walk from the termianls and has no waiting line. It also offers an exclusive private entrance and exit.
