Located about five miles east of Birmingham, Alabama, Birmingham International Airport serves more than three million passengers per year, providing a number of flights to North American, Mexican and Carribean destinations.
There is only one terminal with two concourses (B and C) with full facilities for both arrivals and depatures. Many bars, restuarants and cafés are located throughout the terminal, while an ATM can be found between concourses B and C along with an exchange bureau.
The airport features Skycaps stationed at the curbside on the Upper Level that assist departing passengers with baggage check-in and gate directions. The Business Centre is located on the Upper Level of the terminal buidling, between concourses B and C and features six laptop work stations and high-speed internet access, photocopying and paging services. Wireless internet can be accessed throughout the terminal.
WH Smith and a gift shop are located between concourses B and C, while you can also find several fast food chains such as Pizza Hut and McDonald's. Those requiring medical care can find Airmed International and MedJet Assistance located in the terminal, while medical air transportation is also provided.
Transportation at Birmingham International Airport
Travellers usually find it easy to get to Birmingham International Airport. Buses are available to take you to the city and neighbouring areas; the airport express desk can provide information on bus services and times.
Motorists can take I-20, which connects with Birmingham. The route between Birmingham and the airport is well-signed. Taxi stands are located between concourses B and C on the lower level. Shuttles and limousines also provide fast connections to the city.
Parking at Birmingham International Airport
Many parking options are provided to suit all passengers' needs. The deck provides 5,600 spaces for hourly and daily parking, while the Airport Remote Lot caters to 900 vehicles. From here, shuttle buses are provided to take you to the terminal.
The airport also features the Cell Phone Lot, located on Airline drive, for those waiting to pick up arriving passengers. Passengers can contact their waiting drivers by mobile phone once they have landed and are ready to go. This lot accommodates 40 vehicles at a time. Oversized vehicles as well as vehicles driven by handicapped drivers can enter the deck at the designated entrance at ground level.
