Miami International Airport (MIA)
Facilities at Miami International Airport (MIA)
One of the country's busiest airports, Miami International Airport serves more than 150 destinations all over the world. The airport has one very large terminal, featuring eight concourses (A-H) that handle both international and domestic flights. Concourse D is designated for domestic flights only.
ATMs and currency exchange services are scattered around all the concourses, and full banking services are also available. The airport caters to passengers requiring special assistance, with designated parking spaces and lifts, and also TDD phones, which are found on level 2 of the passenger service centre.
As the airport is very large, you can expect a variety of restaurants, bars and cafés spread throughout. Hungry passengers can choose from a range of eateries. There are plenty of fast food chains represented here - for those wanting to have a quick bite.
The airport boasts countless shops offering up many different types of merchandise. At the departure lounges, passengers will find large duty-free shops featuring a wide range of goods including cigarettes, perfumes and electronics.
There's a fully-equipped business centre located on Concourse E, complete with meeting rooms and a conference hall. There's also a pool table located in the business centre for executives looking to take a break from their work day.
Transportation at Miami International Airport
Several options are available for reaching the city centre from the airport, including trains, taxis and vans. Trains operate from the east side of the airport to Dade County destinations. There are free shuttle bus services that will take you from the Concourse E bus station to the train station.
Other ways to reach the city centre include taxis and vans. There are both taxis and SuperShuttle vans that run 24-hours, from stands in front of the terminal. Booking in advance is not available, however.
If you're driving to Miami International Airport, you can take the I-95 north from the city centre, and then head westbound on route 836. Directions to the airport terminal are singposted from there.
